Mumbai is set to play host to The Elephant Parade in a bid to raise awareness on the need of elephant conservation. This unique idea comprises 101 elephant sculptures designed by famous artists, designers and prominent personalities. These sculptures are then exhibited open to the public. The parade which was started in 2006 aims to draw public attention to the dwindling population of the Asian elephants, and secure 101  pan-India elephant corridors, supported by and in partnership with the Wildlife Trust of India.
The exhibition in Mumbai was inaugurated at the Gateway of India in the presence of Devendra Fadnavis, CM Maharashtra, Maneka Gandhi, Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Poonam Mahajan, MP and ambassador for the Parade. Over the next weeks, some of the sculptures in groups will be on display at the Gateway of India, Priyadarshini Park, Palladium Mall, Siddhivinayak and the Mantralaya. The display will move on 8th March to 11th March to R City Mall Ghatkopar, Phoenix Marketcity Kurla, Grand Hyatt in  Kalina and Reliance Jio Gardens in BKC. 14th March to 18th March will see the exhibits moving to  Carter Road Beach and Amphitheatre, Bandra Fort, Infiniti Malls in Andheri and Malad, Taj Land’s End in Bandra and the Bombay Arts Society in Bandra.
The Elephant Parade has travelled around the world before coming to India. It has already been showcased in Delhi and Jaipur. Prominent personalities from all over the world like  Richard Branson, Katy Perry, Tommy Hilfiger, Elizabeth Hurley and Bryan Adams have collaborated in this venture along with famous Indians like Amitabh Bachchan, Manish Arora, Rekha Rodwittiya, Manish Malhotra and Brinda Miller.
