Junglimericks: In the Crazy Wilds of India

Traveling to nature reserves and wildlife not only inspires many to be photographers, naturalists, bloggers but also brings out poetic skills in some. Asani Bhaduri, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Molecular and Computational Biology, takes to poetry to share his jungle experiences with Saevus readers – ‘Junglimericks‘, as he aptly calls his poetic expression.

In a pebbly mossy stream

A froggy was having a dream

Mantis, Beetle, Hoverfly

Fidgety Dragon-Butterfly

Oh no a python! It woke up with a scream

Frog In a pebbly mossy stream

On top of a Chhatri at Orchha stays a Vulture

Adamant to inspect the food through aperture

My friends were wiped out

Due to Diclofenac rout

Before eating meat, always check for bacterial culture

On top of a Chhatri at Orchha

The Lion King was taking a siesta

Noon at Gir, Loony and Sunny Vista

The White Gum Tree

Was feeling Lonely

The Grasshopper said let’s go to Barista

The big pink-legged Flamingo

The big pink-legged Flamingo

Was unable to fathom the local lingo

Chilika’s little cormorant

Putting its head in a shame on sand

Angrily asked, who is this long Gringo?

Once upon a time in Mawsynram

A clouded leopard received a feline telegram

Rains (STOP) receding

Climate (STOP) changing

Pack your claws (STOP) Come to the party at Mizoram

Crawling came the Tarantula

Midnight at Tambdi-Surla

I said Boss

Do the Floss

Let me catch a few Tadpola
