Heralding the Green Flag-bearers of tomorrow

The 20th of February saw the glittery culmination of a year round event conducted by SAEVUS magazine – the finale of the SAEVUS Eco Achievers programmes. The event started in the morning with the western zonal finals of the Eco Achievers Quiz where the zonal winners of western region battled it out to reach the finalist positions.

The grand finale of the 2019-20 edition of Saevus Eco achievers Quiz saw a tough fight being put up by the schools with PSBB T Nagar, Chennai, emerging as the winner, Centre Point School Dhaba, Nagpur, as 1st Runners-up and Delhi Public School, Bhopal as 2nd Runners-up. Cash prizes for the 3 winning teams were sponsored by VIP Skybags, with our Conservation Partner Hem Chand Mahindra Foundation(HCMF)’s supporting the event.

The next segment was the felicitation of the Olympiad winners. Top 10 winners of the Eco Achievers Olympiad from standards 3 to 10 were awarded cash prizes and trophies, while top 100 winners from across the country were felicitated on-stage with medals and certificates of excellence. The principals and teachers were also felicitated with cash prizes and plaques.

Present among the distinguished guests were various heads of our partner Rotary clubs, Sudip Ghose, Director, VIP Industries along with his team member Sangya Mohanty;Mr N Sunil Kumar, Director RBS India – Head of Sustainable banking, performance and development; Mr Aniket Kothari, Head of Marketing, Mr Aditya Agrawal, Associate General Manager and Ms Arushi Srivastava, Manager Strategic Alliances and Brand Partnerships, from TOPPR and Mr. Venkat Sriram Churukri, Branch Manager, Mumbai – Education and Stationery Business, ITC Classmate.Renowned conservationist Dr AJT Johnsingh gave a heat warming speech on the importance of conservation and efforts of youth. Dr Balakrishna Pisupati, Regional Vice chair, IUCN CEC south and South-east Asia graced the occasion with his presence and spoke about IUCN CEC’s NatureForAll initiative for the youth. Among the Rotarians were Mr Rajendran Unnikrishnan, Chief Coordinator of District 3141; Rtn Jyotsna Gaikwad, Vocational Director and Rtn Jidnyasa Hadkar from Rotary Club of Mumbai West Coast; Rtn Jyoti Mathad from Rotary E-Club of District 3170, Belgaum; Mr. Jeewan Singh Jarori on behalf of Rotary Club of Udaipur and spouse, Rtn Dr. Jaydip K Sensarma, Avenue Mentor, RI District 3142, Rtn Stuti Sensarma, Club President, Navi Mumbai edition, and her colleagues; as well as Rtn Manjari and Samir Limaye from Rotary Club of Thane Hills.
